Good to hear your voice Roger while David's description of the experiment revealing the monkey's empathy is profound. Perhaps those who have little or no empathy have been caught out thanks to the mobile phone & the internet due to the videos that have come out of the Gaza bloodbath, - whereas previous examples of colonial butchery went largely unnoticed eg Natal concentration camps which Emily Hobhouse tried her best to publicise, as did Roger Casement in regard to the heart of darkness in Belgian Congo while both failed to sway the British government to do pretty much anything about it. Seeing is believing I guess in comparison to abstract numbers.

I remember how Mark Blythe likened Neoliberalism to the film Alien. in relation to the acid secreted from that monster which gradually seeps down into everything, while destroying everything good down to it's very foundation. Also Chris Hedges on careerism & Gonzarlo Lira on how he experienced a US Ivy League education which suits those kind of people, who tend to be those who know how to make the right moves politically as they move seamlessly through that narrow tunnel of hoops that are required for those top positions within government institutions, academia & generally the professional managerial class who also tend to be Liberals or Centrists, being often wrongly confused with belonging to the Left.
Meanwhile most people it seems to me focus on the symptoms of our predicament rather than the actual disease. As for Covid the French geneticist Alexandra Henrion-Caude with her warnings on potential outcomes within a complex system such as DNA helped us get through that - while she of course suffered the usual treatment that is dished out to those who dare challenge the narrative.
Recently I had an exchange with a man who would make himself angry, when I started talking about how the world's problems are caused by individuals, like myself, him and others and not a cabal of wealth and power.
That is to say, me and you, I.
The curious thing is I was not saying it was his fault or directing any blame onto him personally. But he took it exactly as though that was what I was doing. And made several attacks directly at my person. When I pointed this out, though he did not deny it, he got yet more angry, using further projections.
This poor child is still not aware of his actions. And the cause of them. Which is that I am pointing clearly at how it's a neurosis, which often develops into a psychosis, to blame wealth and power for the world's problems, while "I" proceed to be fully complicit in them. Because I am the cause. Not they.
So how is it technically that "I" am root cause of the world's problems? The most common way is through my enslavement of my fellow people. And the primary way "I" do this is by getting a mortgage and keeping all the unearned gains from this indirect ownership of land.
If you think there are bigger causes to the world's problems, think again. Residential real estate alone has a market cap of $500 trillion. More than the total stock of global capital. It is THE biggest asset of all. In the UK alone there are 27 million households, 50% of them are under mortgage - that is a democratic majority which no politician would want to deny sweeties to.
Think carefully now: notice how no one ever discusses this and how if anyone does it is discounted out of hand by all comers across the political spectrum. Fake politics is united on this one thing - do not talk about it, censor anyone who does, get angry if the messenger persists successfully, convey power first onto the ones who most help me escape from this.
The 2008 great recession was caused by people like you and I speculating in the rising price of housing, without contributing any inputs into that rising price. Speculating in land this way is the world's greatest form of speculation. It is unregulated and needs no license to operate. Inevitably, a threshold will be reached where the overall economy can no longer sustain itself. And work and business will slow down and stop until I either stop taking my unearned profits or the value of my assets fall back down below the threshold.
I'm not saying it is a good or a bad thing for all of us to be systemically gambling this way. I am just pointing at it. And how a crash is priced in from the start and you and I personally responsible for it. It may well be this is the best way to run things and the next best alternative is worse. I'm pointing it out with clarity because everybody is asking why. Is it therefore wrong for me to respond with the obvious. Should I be expecting so much hate for answering the question?
This angry child who cannot have his sweeties was not angry with me personally even though he was projecting his anger into me. It's OK I have thick skin having been highly active for 20 years dealing with this neurosis and psychopathy. This is a collectively held psychic problem so he was not aware of his projection. He was angry with himself, because deep down he knows unconsciously he is directly complicit in the cause of the worlds biggest problems which in public he says has nothing to do with him. Yet has devoted the past 30 years of his life blaming a cabal of wealth and power, or some similar proximate cause for the world's problems. And now Dad comes along and slaps him down like a good parent saying no more sweeties until you behave.
Now, imagine scaling this child psychology image up to the entire nation and how the image uses democracy to help millions escape in the same childish way. Now that is POWER. Sure, there are many forms of the same kind of childish behaviour. The left and the right forms of children are the most common. There are many others. So long as it helps the child escape and demand more sweeties.
Never give a spoiled child his sweeties. They will wreak havoc. Evidently. November 5th is not far away in the US.
We are forecasting the next great recession towards the end of 2026. Identical root cause. "Me and my inner child demanding sweeties".
If I have the strength to recognise this happening in my own person, that is, I can grasp hold of my own complicity, I am well on the way to changing the world.
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”

I disagree that science shapes politics. Or the other way around. Or a similar iteration of the same topic. I hypothesise that thought shapes the world. And science is an image of this world which thought created. And now worships.
Thought created an image of the world. Then thought worshipped the image it created.
Now, science is an astonishing 'labour saving device'. It has enormous utility. So helps create more wealth outputs for less wealth inputs. But that is all it can do. It cannot change people's minds. Only thought does that.
Once upon a time in a world far away in a different multiverse, a people needed a new tool for survival. Times were hard, crops were failing and there were regular famine. They created a powerful new tool, by thought, to deal with it and save them. This tool was merely an image of the world, not the real world. And they knew this, recognising it's extreme importance and the danger of forgetting it was just an image. And promised their descendants in their constitution that their first duty was to make this critical point clear, forever. It was written in stone plain for all to see and was sung as a hymn before meals and on special occasions.
These wise people realised their new tool was an image and by creating it, had divided the world from itself into 2 distinct parts - 1) the whole of the world and 2) the image as a useful tool. So we're acutely aware of how things could go badly wrong if they forgot the tool was not grounded in the real world. All they had to do was remember this and remain conscious it was just an image. Notwithstanding it's huge power to increase the production of wealth the people realised to forget it was not the real world would be a terrible mistake and lead inevitably to systemic shocks and bizarre macro level events no one would be able to see coming.
Never Forget was their mantra.
Eventually the hymn became a narrative. That is to say, the people found a way to speak about the tool in real world terms, without having to discuss it directly. Which was very convenient because no one really understood how it's causes and effects were linked. No one had ever seen directly the tiny parts the tool told them made up the things the senses could touch and feel. But it was obvious that this is what it appeared to do and who cared anyway. By using the tool religiously, believing the narrative as it had faithfully told them, within a thousand years this people became rulers of their star system.
It came to pass that the narrative was so ubiquitous the people decided to formalise its existence in the real world by giving it a proper name. In their wisdom they had decided to make what was an image of the world, the same thing as the whole of the world. Just like that!
As time went by, though famine was a trinket of ancient history, poverty was unknown and super light speed travel was cheap for even the ones who realised they could play more than work with no negative effect to anyone, an advanced in its own right, every now and then systemic events would hit the multiverse out of nowhere, crippling the entire solar system for several years. This might not have been so bad because things always came back to the normal levels of advance. The problem was that these relentless advances were only manifest in material wealth. The people had yet to make any metaphysical progress and find a way to remain connected to the whole of the world and each other.
To be fair, the tool never promised this. It was not in the design. And the projenitors were well aware of this as has been written and this is how they were committed to worship.
Why was this a problem? Well, the people always found themselves embroiled in a metaphysical crisis surrounding it seemed, the very existence of this people, in spite of there being no real threat. As soon as one such crisis had been sorted another reared it's ugly head. These crises always drove the political sentiment of the time. It might be another global war no one understood the cause of. An imaginary threat to the ecosystem of the multiverse for which there was no authentic proof. Or even an unstoppable phage which threatened not only this multiverse but could so easily spread to the others which eventually turned out to be largely a dreadful mistake.
There was this weird man who occasionally got noticed but was never take seriously. Often mocked. Worst of all, the hacktivists who sung proud of being able to see down the rabbit hole and often were heard stridently spouting about taboo topics which no one else, they claimed, had the courage to speak about, took this man's guidance and claimed it for themselves without giving credit to the man. The man didn't care too much because it was a matter of daily ritual to carry out tasks which assured he remained grounded in the whole of the world. Not as an activity of arrogance but one of living a short life in this world well, and directed toward the whole. So the ignorance of the great masse and their planet savers was relatively rather a trifle to him.
The Assembly of the New Narrative finally gathered to decide on what to call the tool as a way to formalise it. Over the thousand years of progress the people, without realising it, had forgotten about the golden rule set out clearly when the tool was thought up. Remarkably, they decided to use the name the man had coined and which the masses and their authorities now were now to claim for themselves.

2. The importance of recognizing the distinction between the real world and the image created by science.
This is very much a question of stating boundary conditions in ones scientific truth claims.
“Whenever you get two people interpreting the same data in different ways,” “that’s metaphysics.” is a quote from an interview published in Scientific American with Thomas Khun the coiner of the term and proposer of the concept of paradigm shifts.
We are not in the habit of stating the limits of which, what we believe and state as fact will remain to be true and stand up to scrutiny. We tend to state our claims as if they were absolutes much of the time.
3. The potential consequences of forgetting that science is an image of the world.
Scientism is not about following the scientific method, Interpretations of any image of the world is of course problematical, D Champs said Regardeur de Tableax, or the viewer makes the Picture.
‘Thought Leader’ gives talk that will inspire your thoughts | CBC Radio (Comedy/Satire Skit)
Duchamp’s dictum, “It is the viewer [regardeur] who makes the pictures [tableaux],” would probably have been applauded by Baudelaire, who insisted on the active role of the beholder.´´

1. Good presented as bad
2. Bad presented as Good
(That is to say simple inversion)
3. Good presented as Good for a bad reason
4. Bad presented as bad for a bad reason
(That is to say explanatory inversion)
These four categories, which can be summarized as either simple or explanatory inversion, account for all sustained and high impact modern major Mass Media stories without any exceptions.
Therefore those who want to free their minds from the Mass Media must first avoid as much Mass Media output as possible, and secondly develop automatic negativistic behaviour towards the Mass Media output which they cannot avoid”.

The aide said that guys like me were 'in what we call the reality-based community,' which he defined as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.' [...] 'That's not the way the world really works anymore,' he continued. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do'.[2]
6. The significance of remaining connected to the whole of the world and each other.
The Map is not the Territory, IRL is better than URL.
´´if it were easy to set standards for judging judgment that would be honoured across the opinion spectrum and not glibly dismissed as another sneaky effort to seize the high ground for a favourite cause, someone would have patented the process long ago.´´

7. The ethical implications of claiming credit for ideas without acknowledgment.
Yes the internet has made that worse.
We need mor Pelagian Free Will than Biden Plagarism.
8. The assembly's decision to formalize the tool as "SCIENCE" and its implications.
Yes Scientism is bad as is the worship of all false idols including Money.
“'Sharply the menacing wind sweeps over The bending poplars, newly bare,
And the dark ribbons of the chimneys Veer downward; flicked by whips of air,
Torn posters flutter; coldly sound The boom of trams and the rattle of hooves, And the clerks who hurry to the station Look, shuddering, over the eastern rooves,
Thinking, each one, "Here comes the winter! Please God I keep my job this year!"
And bleakly, as the cold strikes through Their entrails like an icy spear,
They think of rent, rates, season tickets, Insurance, coal, the skivvy's wages, Boots, school-bills and the next instalment Upon the two twin beds from Drage's.
For if in careless summer days In groves of Ashtaroth we whored,
Repentant now, when winds blow cold, We kneel before our rightful lord;
The lord of all, the money-god, Who rules us blood and hand and brain, Who gives the roof that stops the wind, And, giving, takes away again;
Who spies with jealous, watchful care, Our thoughts, our dreams, our secret ways, Who picks our words and cuts our clothes, And maps the pattern of our days;
Who chills our anger, curbs our hope, And buys our lives and pays with toys, Who claims as tribute broken faith, Accepted insults, muted joys;
Who binds with chains the poet's wit, The navvy's strength, the soldier's pride, And lays the sleek, estranging shield”

“Three modes of evolution have thus been brought before us: evolution by fortuitous variation, evolution by mechanical necessity, and evolution by creative love. We may term them tychastic evolution, or tychasm, anancastic evolution, or anancasm, and agapastic evolution, or agapasm. The doctrines which represent these as severally of principal importance we may term tychasticism, anancasticism,and agapasticism. On the other hand the mere propositions that absolute chance, mechanical necessity, and the law of love are severally operative in the cosmos may receive the names of tychism, anancism, and agapism.” — C. Robin, We have discovered over the past few years that our communication styles are very different and actually incompatable.
I do not wish to waste any of my time getting to an inevitable impasse with you yet again, so have a pleasant Sunday afternoon. I have nothing further to add and anybody interested can go through as much or as little of the information we have both provided.
Thank you for your humility. And for saying your self so boldly and well.
I do not know about our communication styles because I have never met you in person. I'd love to hear more about the special communications abilities you lay claim to. I'd prefer to meet you in person to discover who you really are though. Up for it?
I'd be delighted to waste as much time as is necessary, even if there's a risk of not being able to agree on anything. I'm not asking for agreement. I'd just like to know who you really are when all the chattering and images have been removed.
I remain the hope that, quid pro quo, you will one day do the same for me.

Hi Steve,
Its beginning to feel like a GolemXIV thread. Great to be back in touch.
Are you working on a commision at the moment? I remember that large statue you did in ,was it Belfast?, also that small filigree statue of a figure that had a sort of ying and yang vibe.

Be careful what you wish for young Roger, as if encouraged I can go on, go on ...... like Mrs Doyle pushing a cup of tea. Moving house at the moment so a bit of a postponement on the Frederick Douglass portrait bust which is nearly finished - my profile pic is a photo close-up of his sculpted face in wax form which is nearly ready for moulding, casting etc.
October last I arrived on route 66 as an OAP but carried on working for the mainly agony & occasional ecstasy of it. I no longer have to worry about meeting deadlines, don't count the hours & just work away until I'm happy or sick to the back teeth of it which is when the piece gets covered up for an undecided time in order for me to get a fresh look at it.
In the meantime I work on something else of which the companion to FD is to realise a design for a piece of wall art which mainly features a frontal bas relief portrait of Leonard Cohen. If it works out as my noodle says it will, then I will use the same format to morbidly continue doing so for other dead celebs, I cons, famous people etc in the hope of earning a few quid to at least cover the costs of skyrocketing material costs. If it doesn't then I can at least stick it on the wall.
I suppose that from a financial POV that i should do Jacko next, but I would rather do Einstein or perhaps achieve a middle position & have a go at Bob Marley. but there is a lot of work to do to transform the concept into reality of which the main factor is to settle on the ideal depth of the relief itself, so that everything around can in turn harmonise with it. Once that is achieved then I will only have to produce the portrait part to slot in comfortably with the rest.
I will likely do a relief version of Frederick as he has a beautiful face which is a fusion of European. African & native American with the latter being evident in his wide cheekbones. I had no previous idea of his existence until the guy from Colorado asked me to do his portrait - he had one hell of a life - Abe Lincoln next at some indeterminate time in the near future.
I love faces except those of the power junkies who mainly increasingly end up becoming actual junkie like with everything sagging Southwards, rarely any laughter lines & IMO eyes that are dead in the water, above a mouth that smiles if it can reverse that downward curve that would best suit a crocodile - Soros is a good example & Nuland when she gives smiling a bad name.
Could you possibly send me that Pope quote as I kinda collect them - I have a short one from Shakespeare that has been stuck in my head for a good while -

Take care.
Go, wondrous creature! mount where science guides,
Go, measure earth, weigh air, and state the tides;
Instruct the planets in what orbs to run,
Correct old time, and regulate the sun;
Go, soar with Plato to th' empyreal sphere,
To the first good, first perfect, and first fair;
Or tread the mazy round his follow'rs trod,
And quitting sense call imitating God;
As Eastern priests in giddy circles run,
And turn their heads to imitate the sun.
Go, teach Eternal Wisdom how to rule—
Then drop into thyself, and be a fool!

Pushkin and Shelly both have a similar theme in Ozymandias, and Exegis momenti. All inspired by Horace.
Horace: Ode 3.30 (From Latin)
Ode 3.30: My Monument
By Horace
Translated by A.Z. Foreman
I've raised a monument to outlast bronze,
Whose heights no dynast's pyramid can exceed,
Which neither North Wind's bluster nor the gnaw
Of rain, nor countless years in slow stampede,
Nor eras' flight can level to the ground.
I'll not all die. Much of me will go long
Past Queen Funeria's reach. I in renown
Of latter days shall grow ever fresh and young.
While yet the pontiff with the quiet virgin
Ascends to the Temple of Jove on that great hill,
I, born where the Aufidus river in violence surges
And droughted Daunus ruled a wild people, will
Be named: the mighty leader from low birth
Who first led Greek song to Italic measure.
Now, Muse, take on the pridefulness I've earned,
And lay the laureate's wreathe on me with pleasure

Cheers mate - here's a bit of TS Eliot I stumbled on in relation to the old guy & his like to the November 5th election.
The Hollow Men
Mistah Kurtz-he dead
A penny for the Old Guy
I
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us-if at all-not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men

They called it 'SCIENCE'.
And so it goes...

Hello Robin,
This is what Chat GPT "Monica" says the ideas in your Comment/Post are.
1. Science as a tool created by thought to shape the world.
2. The importance of recognizing the distinction between the real world and the image created by science.
3. The potential consequences of forgetting that science is an image of the world.
4. The need for metaphysical progress alongside material wealth.
5. The role of political sentiment in driving crises and shaping the world.
6. The significance of remaining connected to the whole of the world and each other.
7. The ethical implications of claiming credit for ideas without acknowledgment.
8. The assembly's decision to formalize the tool as "SCIENCE" and its implications.

For if in careless summer days In groves of Ashtaroth we whored,
Repentant now, when winds blow cold, We kneel before our rightful lord;
The lord of all, the money-god, Who rules us blood and hand and brain, Who gives the roof that stops the wind, And, giving, takes away again;
Who spies with jealous, watchful care, Our thoughts, our dreams, our secret ways, Who picks our words and cuts our clothes, And maps the pattern of our days;
Who chills our anger, curbs our hope, And buys our lives and pays with toys, Who claims as tribute broken faith, Accepted insults, muted joys;
Who binds with chains the poet's wit, The navvy's strength, the soldier's pride, And lays the sleek, estranging shield”

We may term them tychastic evolution, or tychasm, anancastic evolution, or anancasm, and agapastic evolution, or agapasm. The doctrines which represent these as severally of principal importance we may term tychasticism, anancasticism,and agapasticism.
Go well.
