I get the feeling that the CCCP ultimately pulled the plug on Evergrande. They saw a problem, they saw it could only get worse and they decided enough was enough & they decided to control it, at least in regard to the Chinese Economy, in fact a Chinese spokesperson at the LSE actually went on record saying as much.
We have the tensions with the US in the South China Sea & Taiwan. We have Ukraine & Russsia & we have the Middle East.
To me at least there is a Perfect Storm Brewing and the current (😂) rules based order is simply not placed to be able to navigate out of it.
We are at a new Bretton Woods or it's WW3- there is no other options remaining!
Hello Mick Reilly. Thanks for commenting. I agree there is a perfect storm gathering. And like you I don't think our present political or economic system has a plan. My concern is that part of their reaction will be to double down on their already evident distaste and in fact straight out distrust of democracy. I think there we might well see this year some fairly undeniably anti democratic moves being made. They'll no doubt be justified in terms of emergency measures or as a curb to 'populism'. I think the people who trumpet about the rile of law and democracy will be those first to break both.
Interesting stuff. Thank you. We have a price about Ukraine coming out soon. I wrote about Ukraine and western interests on my old GolemXIV blog. I think the divisions and alliances the piece alludes to where liberals and progressives are firmly in support of globalism while being anti-globalist is only voiced by the culturally conservative is important. Personally I am anti-globalist but not from the right.
I have been following you ever since I read your book Debt Generation back after the GFC. Followed avidly GolemXIV when you were blogging there, we're pretty much well aligned.
I've just watched the whole 2+ hrs of the TC / Putin Interview, it's pretty much just Putin showcasing just what an astute operator he is, I very much hope many of the points covered in the interview are also covered in your upcoming piece?
