How the W.H.O lied about Chernobyl
For about 10 years I tried to get the BBC’s science department and later BBC4 interested in this story. I failed. Whenever I described the wealth of as yet unpublished research that was being done by leading Belarusian and western scientists, I was told that people just weren’t interested in nuclear any more. The world had moved on. It just wasn’t sexy.
As the years went by I would add that it seemed as if the W.H.O was suppressing the evidence and censoring its own scientific meetings, refusing to publish their proceedings. All that got me was a skeptical, slightly pitying look. At the time the W.H.O. like the F.A.O. and the rest of the U.N.’s front line agencies were still largely seen as on the side of the angels.
So I gave up. I shouldn’t have but I’m afraid I did.
I did keep in contact with quite a few of the scientists, researchers and activists who had dedicated themselves to bringing this story to light. Many of them are now dead. All of them have been fiercely attacked and their work ignored and disparaged. These dedicated and often brave people sent me copies of their research papers and the proceedings of the scientific meetings that the W. H. O. had not allowed to be made public. They sent them to me in the hopes I would be able to make a film about them. I never did. Somehow I was never able to make this extraordinary story of betrayal and corruption leap off the page.
But times have changed. The W.H.O.’s obsequious and sometimes outright grovelling behaviour during the Covid pandemic has massively damaged its reputation. A great many people, informed and educated people, now wonder openly about the corruption of western science and its major publications. This sea change in sympathies and erosion of trust has spooked the scientific establishment. So much so that they are quick and fierce to denounce any deviation from the party line as ‘conspiracy’ and ‘anti-science’. But the tide is running hard against them and they know it. The fact that they now publicly talk about how to control and limit who gets to talk about scientific issues of public concern like Covid shows how authoritarian they are prepared to be. You can read here a report in the German publication WELT, about how the German media’s go-to virologists on all things covid, Christian Drosten, has publicly stated that “ …it should be scientific organizations rather than journalists who should decide which experts are allowed to express themselves in the media.” Where it rubs shoulders with political power and big money, science has changed.
And I have changed as well. I no longer make many films. There is no appetite for my kind of films at the traditional broadcasters who are themselves facing irrelevance and extinction. So not long ago I found myself staring at the filing cabinet I have full of rejected stories and I asked myself, ‘Do I want to be buried with this cabinet?’ I don’t. I decided if I couldn’t get my stories made as films I would get them out as podcasts.
Its a small and in the grand scheme of things inconsequential gesture but it’s all there is available to me.
What follows in the podcast is not conspiracy it is fact. Many, many facts - all of them researched, investigated and written up for scientific scrutiny and review but their publication suppressed by the W.H.O. This is not an idle or unfounded claim. The scientists we talk about in the podcast, Nesterenko and Bandashevski asked themselves a simple, brutal question - why were so many children in the contaminated areas around Chernobyl dying of things children had never previously died of and should not die of, such as total heart failure, and organ collapse? Deaths that should afflict their grandparents not them. And relatedly why was there a dramatic rise in abortions and malformations?
The answer to this question affects us all. Which is why the nuclear lobby has suppressed it.
It's well understood that the young are more susceptible to high doses of ionising radiation through breaking genes as they're developing. We know why, this is not controversial. So... what dose did each receive and what were the effects?. That is the only scientific measure necessary. So the greater question is why are the 'video activists' not discussing it? It's not good enough to ask why more die from stuff they didn't before because thats an emotional guess for propaganda. You have to ask why the activist scientists are 'begging the question' at all. We know why this is too and it's not scientific, but political. Have we not had enough of that?
I watched the video. It's propaganda. I'm surprised you posted it. Many serious allegations are made yet without scientific backing. I realise all institutuons involved are corrupt or have an agenda on both sides of the mania. At the very start images of dying children are being exploited. Lots of emotions.
